About Me
Hailing from Santiago de Chile, Javiera earned her B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Chile, under the mentorship of Dr. Felipe Diaz-Alvarado and Dr. Willy Wracht. Her research focused on designing and evaluating renewable energy systems in the mining sector. Post-graduation, she worked as an energy consultant, advising financial institutions on renewable energy financing in South America. In Spring 2023, Javiera joined the Avraamidou group at the University of Wisconsin–Madison to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, alongside a certificate in Energy Policy and Analysis. Beyond her scholarly and professional pursuits, she enjoys cooking, outdoor adventures, dancing, and the art of cross-stitching.
Research Interests
Javiera’s research interests are centered on the development of sustainable energy systems and the application of mathematical optimization techniques to create innovative decision-making tools. Her goal is to play a key role in driving the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. Javiera approaches her research with a comprehensive perspective, taking into account the intricate interplay between technology, costs, environmental factors, and policy.
