Avraamidou group is part of the new Center for Mineral and Metal Oxide Removal from Biomass (CMORE)

Our group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is part of the new Center for Mineral and Metal Oxide Removal from Biomass (CMORE), a multi-institutional initiative funded by Schmidt Sciences and the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR). CMORE, part of the Virtual Institute on Feedstocks of the Future (VIFF), aims to develop technologies for extracting minerals from biomass to produce cleaner biofuels and chemicals. Prof. George Huber is the executive director of CMORE, and Prof. Styliana Avraamidou is co-directing this initiative. Prof. Avraamidou will lead systems analysis with contributions from UW-Madison colleagues Prof. Victor Zavala (CBE) and Prof. Craig Benson, a professor emeritus of civil and environmental engineering. Our team will specifically focus on examining the systems perspective, ensuring that the integration of these technologies is both efficient and sustainable. Meng-Lin Tsai from our group will be actively working on this project, contributing to systems analysis and supply chain optimization for biomass processing.
